Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide?

We offer a comprehensive UK Tax Service for Australian Residents. You might need to prepare and submit a UK Tax Return or finalise your UK tax affairs. You might even wish to set up a UK business. You can find more about what we do by clicking here to open a new window and review our Services page. When you have finished reading, you can close the window and you will be back on this page.

How does your service work?

It’s quite straightforward. As we are internet based, you contact us, filling in a few personal details and letting us know what you are looking for. We will contact you, asking for identification documents and will send our terms of engagement. Once agreed, we will request the necessary information needed to complete the return or other service that you require. Once we have finalised this, we will send copies for signature, together with our invoice, which is payable on presentation. We will then submit, as necessary, to the relevant authority, and provide you with confirmation.

Why do you need to confirm my identity?

This is one of the procedures that we must follow in order to comply with both existing laws and regulations and our Professional Indemnity Insurance. In most cases, a copy of your Australian Driver’s Licence would suffice. If you cannot provide this, we would need a copy of any official photo id (eg passport) and proof of address.

How long does it take?

In the case of a UK Income Tax Return, or any other UK Return, we always aim to provide you with submission confirmation within a maximum of seven days from initial point of contact. This is dependent on the timely receipt of information requested and agreement of documents.

How much do you charge for your services?

We believe that our fees are quite reasonable. We aim to be transparent in our pricing structure, and have published example fees on this website. You can review these by clicking here to open our pricing page in a new window. When reviewed, you can close the window and you will be back on this page.

Instead of reviewing our Pricing page, you can obtain a quotation by clicking here to open our Instant Quote page in a new window. You will need to follow the directions. Once the form is filled in, our quotation will be shown at the bottom of the page, and emailed directly to your inbox. You can then close the window and you will be back on this page.

Even though the published fees are stated as example fees, we would not anticipate these being any different, in most cases. All fees are, in any case, detailed in the terms of engagement, and are fixed in advance. What you see is what you get!

What do you do with my personal information?

We take your privacy very seriously.

We only retain enough information as needed to perform our service. Copies of sensitive documents are kept in a secure, protected external hard drive, and nothing is held in the ‘cloud’.

I’ve heard about computer cookies. Do you use these?

We use software to obtain general information about which areas of our site are being visited, and how often, in order that we can provide a better experience for our users.

We do not place cookies on your computer and do not collect any personal information from any of our site visitors.

You can read our Cookie Policy by clicking here. This will open in a new window which you can close when finished. You will then be back on this page.

Are you qualified and sufficiently experienced to offer a UK tax service?

Indeed. Our principal, Andrew J Robinson, is a UK Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in UK Tax and Accounting matters. You can click here to read about us in a new window. If you wish, you can also click here to open the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) page confirming Andrew’s membership.

We are registered with HM Revenue and Customs as a UK tax agent.

Do you offer an Australian tax service?

No, we do not. We concentrate on UK tax and accounting matters only. We provide you with schedules for your Australian tax return, translated at the ATO published rate.

How do I know if I need to submit a UK Tax Return?

In general, if you are in receipt of UK income, you may well need to notify HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and prepare and submit a UK Income Tax Return.

We have published a page on this subject, which you can open in a new window by clicking here. When finished, you can close the window and you will be back on this page.

What do I do if I am resident in Australia and have sold my UK property?

You will need to notify HM Revenue and Customs of the sale, by preparing and submitting a Non-residents Capital Gains Tax Return. This needs to be done within 60 days of completion (previously 30 days, but still a tight deadline), otherwise penalties may apply.

You will need to contact us as soon as possible.

You can review our UK Capital Gains Tax page in a new window by clicking here. When finished, you can close the window and you will be back on this page.
